A Fuzz Face variant using NPN 2N1306 germanium transistors, built on vero with Vishay and tropical fish caps, BC electros and carbon composition resistors. Using NPN transistors makes the circuit negative ground, so the pedal’s power supply can be daisy-chained with other negative ground pedals. The circuit is tuned somewhere between the stock Fuzz Face and a Colorsound Fuzzbox. The knobs control Volume and Tone, going from a heavy, fat fuzz to a less saturated distortion. There’s also an internal trimmer to adjust the bias. Finished in a cream powdercoat with an orange LED.
A germanium Fuzz Face with 2N404 transistors, carbon composition resistors, Vishay caps and BC electros. The knobs control Pre-Gain, Tone and Volume while an internal trimmer adjusts the bias. Finished with an orange LED, Daka-ware knobs and green hammerite.
For Xan in the U.K.
A silicon Fuzz Face with BC108 transistors and knobs for Tone, Fuzz and Volume with an internal trimmer to set the pre-gain level.
For Cormac in Waterford.
A Fuzz Face clone with BC107 and BC337 silicon transistors, BC electros, Vishay and vintage tropical fish caps, clear/blue LED and blue hammerite finish.
For Neil in Dublin.
A germanium Fuzz Face clone with 2N404 transistors, carbon composition resistors, Vishay caps and BC electros. The knobs control Pre-gain, Tone and Volume and the bias can be set with the internal trimmer. The fuzz level is set to max and can be controlled by the guitar’s volume knob. Finished in a silver vein powdercoat.
For Kalle in Germany.
A germanium Fuzz Face clone which uses NOS Russian ex-military MП39Б and 1T308Б transistors. Known for their very low leakage, the Russian germaniums are great in a Fuzz Face and provide remarkable clean-up when the guitar’s volume is rolled back. It’s built with Russian K71-4B polystyrene caps, Panasonic caps, carbon composition resistors and BC electros. The knobs control Pre-gain, Tone, Bias and Volume and the toggle switches in a bass cut. It also uses a voltage converter circuit which allows its power supply to be daisy-chained with other effects.
For Nathan in Texas, U.S.
A germanium Fuzz Face clone using 2N404A transistors. Built on veroboard, it uses tropical fish and Panasonic caps, BC electros and carbon composition resistors. The knobs control Fuzz, Tone and Volume and the toggle provides a bass cut, while the bias can be adjusted with an internal trimmer. Alpha pots, Neutrik jacks, clear/orange LED and a red hammertone finish.
A germanium Fuzz Face clone with AC128 transistors.
Knobs control Volume, Bias and Fuzz and a toggle switch goes between stock tone and bass cut.
Built on tagboard with carbon composition resistors, Vishay and ‘tropical fish’ caps, BC electros, Alpha pots and Neutrik jacks, clear/blue LED and black hammertone finish.
